I'm Nathan, I'm based in South East England and I'm a huge music fan. When I'm not making music of my own I'm listening to a wide variety of music from Pop to Rock to Metal and beyond. My top three bands would have to be the Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo and My Chemical Romance although there are so many other great bands but so little time to list them!

Nathan Blackstone's Articles:

Youth Killed It- Modern Bollotics

London/ Norwich 5 piece, Youth Killed It are here and they want you “to get in the back of the van man”. I think you should go with them to be honest. Youth Killed It are releasing their album, Modern Bollotics on May 12th, an explosive record mixing the attitude of British Indie Rock with […]

Alvarez Kings- Somewhere Between

Somewhere Between is the debut record from indie quartet Alvarez Kings. Their slick musical stylings has already conquered the stages of the Warped Tour and Europe alike but does their first release continue to conquer? Yes of course it does! The record opens up with Cold Conscience, a lush and jaunty track. It gives you […]

Brightlight City- Our Future’s Not Dead

British rock five piece, Brightlight City are releasing their latest EP, Our Future’s Not Dead, this April and it is as bright as the lights in their hypothetical city! Between playing tours and sharing stages with bands like Rise Against, the band have put together a four track EP that certainly shows their talents. At […]

The Dollyrots- Whiplash Splash

It’s been an interesting winter this year and not in the good way. Like me, you may be worn down by the dark, the cold and just about everything else. Well don’t worry because the spring is here and along with it comes the new record from California Bubblegum Punks, The Dollyrots. Whiplash Splash is […]

The Raven Age- Darkness Will Rise

UK metal band, The Raven Age have had a pretty eventful few years. The band formed in 2013 and quickly built up a reputation with their incredible live shows and dramatic musical styling. In 2016 the band found themselves supporting none other than Iron Maiden. The band supported Maiden around the world in 2016 before […]

All Them Witches- Sleeping Through The War

For those who haven’t heard All Them Witches before I’ll try to describe them in one word. Magical. They’re magical, enchanting even, and quite unlike many bands out there. 2012’s Our Mother Electricity and 2014’s Lightning At The Door will give you a better idea of the bands sound than writing ever could. The band […]

Love Letter To…. Brand New

It’s February, the month of love, and here at Alt Corner we want to express our love to our favourite bands. This time it’s the turn of Nathan Blackstone telling us why he loves Brand New. From the moment I first heard the haunting, hanging notes of Jesus, I’ve been in love with Brand New. […]

Auto Immune- Self Titled

Darlington based alt-rockers Auto Immune present to you their latest, self titled release. At three songs, the EP is kept short and sweet, although sweet seems the wrong word to describe the band’s sound. This record features heavy guitars and fierce vocals that storm through each track in impressive fashion. The EP starts out with […]

Kilkovec- Plunge

When I received this EP to review and looked through the band’s influences I was intrigued after two words, Brand New. Hampshire’s self proclaimed ‘Altpunx’, Kilkovec drop their latest EP ‘Plunge’ on the 27th of January and from the first listen I knew I’d love it. As previously mentioned, Kilkovec draw influence from bands such […]

Sertraline- Guilty

Melodic metallers, Sertraline can be described in many ways, all of them positive. The band covers an impressive amount of ground and their latest release, Guilty, is a genre spanning, five track journey showing you where they’ve been exploring these past few months. The EP begins with title track, Guilty. Opening with crushing rhythm guitars […]

Boris The Blade- Warpath

Boris The Blade are coming at us from down under this January with their new album, Warpath. The band, who take their name from an arms dealer, certainly haven’t lacked firepower with any of their previous efforts and Warpath comfortably keeps pace with their previous releases. This record isn’t one for the faint hearted, being […]

Sioux Falls- All Talk Is Small Talk

All Talk Is Small Talk is the new EP from Cheltenham based pop punk group, Sioux Falls who certainly don’t fall short. Released in November and consisting of five tracks it’s a solid set of songs! British pop punk has been on the rise in recent years and to me Sioux Falls embody all the […]

Hunter Kill Hunter- II

London based five piece Hunter Kill Hunter release their second and aptly named EP, II, on December 2nd. The record starts with a short intro that flows flawlessly into opener Too Much To Take. Throughout the track we hear the bands two vocalists sharing duties and playing off of each other as they continue to […]

Camel Of Doom- Terrestrial | Review

British Doom metal band, Camel Of Doom are unveiling their record Terrestrial to the world on the 2nd of December and it’s certainly not something you’ll get the hump with. Camel and extra-terrestrial/ out-of-this-world puns aside, the band’s fourth album does not disappoint. This doom metal record certainly does not spell doom for the band […]

Animals As Leaders – The Madness of Many | Review

US Prog metallers Animals As Leaders are back with another album of musically mental instrumentals. The new record is called The Madness of Many and madness is surely one way to describe what's going on throughout this record although it is the best kind of madness.
