Rock Music GENRE ARCHIVES

Asking Alexandria – ‘Like A House On Fire’

Asking Alexandria had quite a lot to live up to with their new album Like A House On Fire. After 2017's self titled saw both the return of Danny Worsnop and a drastic change in sound, the band's fans were divided.

Album Review: Deepshade – Soul Divider

Wigan’s Deepshade formed in the late of 2013 by David Rybka, Tom Doherty and Paul Barlow joining forces due to their pleasure of creating all things fresh. The four piece have released their new 10 track EP 'Soul Divider' out soon. The crew influenced by Soundgarden, The Doors, Pearl Jam and QOTSA along with Porcupine Tree bringing these influences with their own sound has garnered a following.

Haggard Cat – Common Sense Holiday

The phoenix rising from the ashes of Heck, Haggard Cat appeared on the scene two years ago with their debut record Challenger. Although having left the crazed hardcore behind, their energy levels have not dipped; Haggard Cat are purveyors of high octane rock n’ roll and their new album Common Sense Holiday is 45 minutes of raucous fun.

Review: Silverstein’s ‘A Beautiful Place To Drown’

After twenty years you'd expect the fusion of pop punk and post-hardcore that is Silverstein's trademark to have grown tired. That's not the case, though. In fact, it's quite the opposite.

The Jacques – Born Sore

How long has January been? Feels longer than 31 days, so, calm those nerves and ready yourself for February, as we here at Alt-Corner have been passed the new EP Born Sore by Bristol/London fellows, The Jacques and it’s out NOW.

Dashboard Confessional ‘The Best Ones Of The Best Ones’

Dashboard Confessional has returned to the world with a greatest hits package celebrating 20 years of sad-boy music-making prowess.

Halestorm, In This Moment and New Years Day @ Motorpoint Arena Nottingham

To see Halestorm announcing a UK arena tour just a year after playing much smaller venues was a shock, and it meant they’d for sure have to be bringing some heavy hitters with them. These came in the form of In This Moment and New Years Day, who have both commanded a mass following for many years, but also bring something much different to the table both musically and in the performance of said music.

Periphery and Plini at 02 Ritz Manchester

Having blown everyone away with the release of Periphery IV: Hail Stan earlier this year, Periphery arrived in Manchester and put on an excellent show for a sold out audience

Sights and Sounds announce album release shows

Canadian rock band Sights and Sounds will be coming to the UK and Europe before the year is out.

The Fever 333 @ Leeds University Stylus

Fever 333 live at Leeds University Stylus was an interesting night, that's for sure. The decision to not have an opening act left a vacuum of time between doors and the band taking the stage, as the sold-out room slowly filled. There was a distinct goodness in the air, however. I'd got myself on a sort of balcony, overlooking the ground below that I knew would later become a massive pit.

Gloryhammer, Beast In Black and Windrose @ Rescue Rooms, Nottingham

Gloryhammer at Nottingham Rescue Rooms was an eye-opening gig experience. With support from Beast In Black and Italian metal act Windrose, it was a stacked bill for sure.

Dream State – Primrose Path

Dream State's debut record 'Primrose Path' presents the band harnessing a very cinematic rock sound, grand arrangements creating a cacophony of sound and emotion. Opener 'Made Up Smile' exemplifies this sound, building up to crazy and catchy climactic choruses, and even sprinkling some wonderful little screams in there.

Issues – ‘Beautiful Oblivion’

Issues haven't completely shed the skin that is metalcore on new record 'Beautiful Oblivion', but they've certainly moisturised it with some extra glossy melodies that make the record more accessible to people outside of the scene

Issues and Lotus Eater live at Cwlb Ifor Bach, Cardiff

After a long, hard week in work there is nothing better than letting your hair down with some amazing live music and Issues and Lotus Eater did not disappoint us as we witnessed one of the best gigs of the year.

Live review: Trash Boat, Capstan, Doll Skin and Woes @ Leeds University Stylus

Knowing full well I was set for a loaded night of pop punk, at times with a sprig of hardcore added in, I decided the only worthy shirt for the gig was my As It Is one. Then, in classic broke pop punk fashion, I used the day ticket from my bus journey earlier to get to Leeds, thus not spending extra cash on the train. 20 chicken nuggets down, I strolled to the venue, prepared for a night of mosh pit observing/avoiding.
