Team Member: Gareth Rooke

Hi I'm Gareth, A foolish Welshman that has found himself living in Scotland. I adore live music and this all started back in University when a friend dragged me along to my first gig and I saw Travis. From then on I spent a lot of time going to see bands from rubbish uni bands that had formed one drunken night to the mighty Blur. When I finished uni there was a 10 year gap between gigs (long story). Now though, on any given day of the week I can be found in the venues of Glasgow. With regards to my music taste I love anything with great lyrics and heavy drums. When I was younger (and still am) I was obsessed with a band called Alisha's Attic. When not at a gig I will be found at my computer playing games like Prison Architect, Hearthstone and Wolfenstein.

Heart of Oak Take on the A-Z Questionnaire Challenge!

Heart of Oak aka Jimmy Broomfield, is a singer songwriter from the New Forest, England. A born storyteller, Heart of Oak is the culmination of many years of learning and a craft that is honed, perhaps, if you'll forgive the cliche, even carved, from within. Jimmy took on the A-Z Questionnaire Challenge, read his answers below...

Feed Them To The Forest take on the A-Z Questionaire

Feed Them To The Forest are a rock band from the North of England. Blending the emotionally charged sound of the late '90s Long Island punk rock scene with a distinctly British twist, FTTTF bring the genre up to date with an intense and energetic live show, laced with hooks, harmonies and anthemic melodies. The band took on the A-Z Questionnaire Challenge! Read their answers...

Pop-punk newcomers ICYMI share ‘Get Out’

Newcomers ICYMI are gearing up to release “Get Out” on the 17th September. Luckily you can listen to the track right here! This tune garners huge pop punk influence with the likes of Blink 182, Paramore and All Time Low all springing to mind. This band is infectious and boy do they shine on this track!

Band Of The Week: Altered Sky

For our first band of the week, it has to be a band that I have literally seen over thirty times: Altered Sky.

Introducing Better Days

Upon completion of the bands first official tour, writing began for what would have been a third EP. During this process it became evident the bands musical direction was moving towards something new, a brand which didn't fit the style they had built. It was then decided that they would start again from scratch and of the new alias; Better Days.

When We Were Wolves at Cathouse, Glasgow

Rounding the night off were When We Were Wolves, who are loud and heavy...and unashamedly so. They are a complete contrast to the opening band Armstrong. Mitch's voice was better in the dirty vocal than the clean but still had me entertained. They seem to be skating that thin ice between metal and post hardcore and I kind of like it.

Area 11, Mash House, Edinburgh

Taking myself on a day trip to Edinburgh I was excited to see Area 11 and their new songs live but, was a little disappointed to see the show be only a two band bill.

Hands Like Houses, Cathouse, Glasgow 27 May

"Old songs like New Romantics had the crowd off their feet jumping around like bunnies on sherbet and it didn't stop after this. Happiness was a clear fan favourite and truly kick ass song. Great band".

Tigress at O2 ABC2, Glasgow

Headliners tonight were Tigress and they came to the stage with a flurry of energy! They got the hair on the back of my head standing on end. I couldn't help but notice their bassist was missing but they made up for it with pure energy...
