Team Member: Gareth Rooke

Hi I'm Gareth, A foolish Welshman that has found himself living in Scotland. I adore live music and this all started back in University when a friend dragged me along to my first gig and I saw Travis. From then on I spent a lot of time going to see bands from rubbish uni bands that had formed one drunken night to the mighty Blur. When I finished uni there was a 10 year gap between gigs (long story). Now though, on any given day of the week I can be found in the venues of Glasgow. With regards to my music taste I love anything with great lyrics and heavy drums. When I was younger (and still am) I was obsessed with a band called Alisha's Attic. When not at a gig I will be found at my computer playing games like Prison Architect, Hearthstone and Wolfenstein.

Homebound reveal Distrait

Pop-punk quartet Homebound’s new single ‘Distrait‘ [youtube v=wkaDvcuvsR0] Discussing the track’s origin, vocalist Charlie Boughton reveals, “It’s very easy to just ignore your problems and let them get on top of you because you don’t wish to burden others with it or in the fear they won’t understand. By my own admission, I know I do […]

Lacuna Coil @ The Garage, Glasgow

Kicking the night off was Genus Ordinis Dei. The first thing that hit me about them was the Brilliant rhythmic drumming. There were layered with good heavy guitars with plenty of meaty rifts. As a metal band they used a backing track effectively and was not over used to the point where I was cursing. They […]

Introducing Concealed In Clouds

Hailing from Borås, Sweden, contemporary metal act, Concealed In Clouds, recently released the eclectic music video for “Aspire“. Losing Ground – Old Glory

If they slowed down the vocals but kept the playful speed of the mandolin I would have liked Old Glory a lot more. It shows great potential but, being an EP it doesn't give them time to show all of what they have to give and I suspect they are better live than what is shown on this EP.

Sum 41 – 13 Voices

Out of the returning trivector of pop punk bands this year (Blink-182, Good Charlotte and Sum 41). This is by far the best of the bunch and is my album of the year. And the reason why? It is due to how progressed this is for Sum 41. The album is still pop punk at the core but, has incorporated, metal riffs, rock power and hardcore energy.
