Soon after doors open a huge wall of sound rises through the house speakers to a fairly empty room as THECITYISOURS takes the stage by storm putting on a massively impressive show to kick things off, while the Islington Academy gradually starts to fill. A cover of Labrinth – Earthquake has people singing along, although […]
Following the release of their third album, ‘The Water‘, and almost exactly two years since their last show in London, San Cisco brought all their glittery Australian surf/ psychedelic/ indie/ pop/ rock grooves to The Garage. San Cisco are a great live band. This is an indisputable fact. From the moment they came on stage […]
As the house lights go down for openers Starset, 2 lit up screens on each side of the stage illuminate the room while a deep rumbling bass tone fills the O2 Forum for a lengthy duration, causing the onlookers to give up chanting their name while eagerly awaiting any sign of life on stage. Now […]
The weight of expectation must be lying very heavy on the shoulders of Marmozets. Having burst onto the scene with their magnificent debut album The Weird and Wonderful in 2014, they have been absent for nearly 2 years following Becca’s recovery from a serious knee injury. It now transpires that they have not been idle and that […]
Pennsylvania indie-rockers Tigers Jaw have returned to UK shores for a headline run in support of their fantastic new album Spin. I went along to catch their date at Southampton’s best-known sweatbox The Joiners. The job of getting things started on a drizzly Friday night is given to local ‘dirty pop’ outfit Faux, who certainly […]
In a month were festivals suffered on a large scale, we don’t need to point fingers, Fat Lip Festival took over 2 venues in Bristol for its inaugural year & did so in the loudest way it knew possible. Entering the tiny venue of The Lanes as As Flames Rise began their set, it very […]
As the final day of 2000 Trees 2017 began people trundled, hungover from their tents to enjoy the last of the great bands on offer. The Winter Passing It’s always hard opening the last day of a festival. As people relaxed and recovered from their hangovers in the Axiom tent. The Winter Passing did a […]
As the sun continued to shine on Friday, 2000 Trees truly kicks off as the main stage opens and the full 10,000 capacity of the festival is reached. Ducking Punches The singer-songwriter tinged punk rock artist opened the main stage at this years 2000 Trees, with a brilliant energetic and emotional performance. With clever stage […]
2000 Trees offers the best in new and upcoming bands as well as showcasing some brilliant new established acts higher up the bill. Below is the review of the Thursday at 2000 trees where only half of the four stages are open, but that definitely doesn’t mean half the show. Grumble Bee The first band […]
After being at several festivals, I welcomed heading to one of Birmingham’s smaller, intimate venues in The Sunflower Lounge to see Boston punks Energy on their first UK headline run. Opening the night is Mantra. I got more into their set towards the end as they seemed to improve after each song. They have a […]
Night one of Linkin Park in London, which has already led to a bit of a sceptical pre-show. Firstly, after much debate of tickets stating “with Special Guests” it was finally confirmed that there was no support act and the band were “happy to play a longer set” which O2 Arena stated would be 8.30pm […]
On 13th June 2017, the best-dressed boys in music, The Strypes, headed to Camden’s Dingwalls for what turned out to be probably one of the best gigs that venue has seen. Before The Strypes, the crowd were warmed up first by Sasha Adamczewski who killed it with his raspy vocals and blues-y, rock n’ roll grooves atop […]
A sold out crowd tonight, which was to be expected from Simple Plan‘s only UK headline show commemorating a 15 year milestone of the debut album No Pads, No Helmets, Just Balls. First up are local Londoners The Bottom Line who have become quite the addition to the Pop/Punk tours running through UK/EU, while honing […]
