Glasgow post-hardcorers Tenements released their new EP What Hasn’t Killed You Is Only Getting Stronger at the end of August. The quintet have been championed by the likes of Kerrang!’s Alex Baker with their latest 8 track effort.
The introducing riff of The Fear kicks things off with a bang before the screams kick in. A public service announcement comes in the form of Civil Unrest: An Intonation, as Permanent (More Than A Memory) kicks in with a rocky guitar riff and keeps you hooked with an entrancing blend of pounding drums. Lucidity: The Clarity Of Expression contains another PSA over a trance-like, calming melody.
Silhouettes is a more melodic track than some of its predecessors, combining melodic clean vocals and screams. This is the stand-out track on the record, with it’s catchy hooks and all-round creative ability. Closing track Standing On The Backs Of Angels is a catchy way to round off the EP.
Tenements have created an interesting brand of post-hardcore with their rocky riffs and melodic clean vocals combining with harsh screams. A good effort from a band who have a lot of talent.
