Review: Tether – Mirror Work

Vicki had a listen to the new Tether EP, Mirror Work, which was released yesterday!

Hardcore newcomers Tether released their debut EP Mirror Work on the 20th June.

With just six tracks, Tether have shown us that they belong in the hardcore scene, with heavy distortion and diverse sounds. It was an EP that immediately had me drawn in, headbanging and had me wanting more.

I particularly liked the final two tracks, Break Your Tether and This Way or the High Way. These had more of an emotional impact on me, but just seemed to stand out musically. This Way or the High Way was a strong ending, wrapping the album nicely.

Break Your Tether had a Bring Me The Horizon familiarity about it. I think this is what I enjoy about the EP, the songs reminded me of bands that introduced me to the scene. The early works of The Blackout and Asking Alexandria came to mind while I listened.

Tether have an EP release show in Camden on June 27, a week after Mirror Work is released. Have a listen and go give them some support if you’re able!
