Italian alt-metallers Anewrage released their second album Life-Related Symptoms on April 7. We had a sneak peek ahead of the release with the lead single Upside Down and were excited to hear the rest!
Opening track Upside Down is catchy and the vocals are hoarse in a good way. There’s clap-a-long sections and it feels like a bit of a dancey rock track. Something good for getting ready for a night out. My Worst Friend is a grunge-inspired track that is just pretty rad. There isn’t much else to say!
Tomorrow shows off some pretty impressive vocals from frontman Axel Capurro. Evolution Circle starts with a more metal instrumentation and the hoarse vocals are back which fit quite well, there’s a bit of screaming in here too. We get haunted by Outside and closing track Wolves and Sirens has the potential to be a big tune with its atmospheric opening and huge hooks!
This is an alternative record for sure. Although they’re classed as alt-metal, the entire record is majorly clean vocals with massive hooks and a grungier feel. There is the odd metal riff but in all honesty, it isn’t really needed. This is a pretty strong album from a band that I think may be one of my new favourites!
