Young Culture – Godspeed

Young Culture released their new EP Godspeed on July 30 through Rude Records. The band want you to feel the emotions throughout and this is something you really do on a deep listen.

Title track Godspeed begins the EP with some incredible vocals from Alex Magnan and these continue throughout. It’s very poppy, but has an edge to it, think All Time Low. It’s catchy and a great opener.
Hum’s opening instrumental takes me back to 2014 5SOS and has a nice nod to Britney Spears. This track has all the hallmarks of a radio-friendly fan favourite and is my standout.
Shiver takes things up a notch where the instrumentation is more prominent, particularly the drums throughout.
Latest single simplemindedteens is one which begins as more of a ballad and develops into a catchy anthem. It’s quite 2000s Busted.
Closer Head High (Swim) is a mellow end to the EP and the lyrics have been stuck in my head since the first listen.
This is a strong EP from the band. There is one major downside to this EP – it’s far too short and I’m looking forward to an album.
It’s a bold prediction but Young Culture will be an arena band within a few years if they continue on this path.
