Unfortunately the alt rock four piece struggle to achieve much on this EP with each track falling rather flat.

You would expect a band called Thumpermonkey to be intriguing and offer interesting concepts. This is not the case with Electricity. Opening song Garmonbozia lacks the sort of hook that a song of its style requires to be effective. There is some improvement on second track Tzizimime which outside of the vocals, builds well into a bombastic ending. Penultimate song This Is Not A Fire also builds well and final track Woadscrivened shows potential with the piano used in the intro. Much like the first two songs the last two songs struggle to capture and mesmerise you as intended due to the forced vocals. Both lyrically and melodically the vocals are a distinct distraction from what is an otherwise good showcase of musicianship.

This EP from Thumpermonkey is unfortunately forgettable and will struggle to get the listener excited for a potential full length in 2018. Hopefully the next release from Thumpermonkey will be a distinct improvement on this effort.
