REVIEW – LO RAYS – RE:BIRTH SEQUENCE

Lizi had a listen to LO RAYS’ EP RE:BIRTH SEQUENCE!

LO RAYS released new EP RE:BIRTH SEQUENCE on March 27 through Prime Collective.

Opener Scapegoat shows off Laura Takala’s sweet vocals from the start which work well with the more melodic elements but she also holds her own on the more screamo parts. The track is catchy and has a good drum beat throughout. It also has a good breakdown.

Afterlove joins the party on Knee Height and it’s a strong track with airy r’n’b vocals that mix well together. It’s really catchy, particularly the chorus.

A standout moment is definitely the breakdown and screams in Playing Both Sides. The chorus is a bop too, with some great lyrics including ‘I’m playing both sides, controlling the strings.’

RE:BIRTH SEQUENCE is a very catchy EP and it’s a shame it’s not longer. The split between heavy beats and riffs and soaring r’n’b style vocals works well. It’s an absolute bop from start to finish.
