REVIEW: Chaos Reigns – Sweet Violence

Lizi had a listen to Chaos Reigns’ latest album Sweet Violence!

Hardcore punks Chaos Reigns released their latest record Sweet Violence on November 30.

Opener False Gods has a funky bass throughout and I love the prominence of the drums, particularly the kick drum. The mix between scream vocals and clean is good and it has a really cracking lyric in “is the who we are, howling at the moon. Our time has finally come.”

The guitar work in Violet Delights is cool with a fun lick as is the bassline throughout Graveyard Shift.

I really like the lyrics to Sins of Success as they’re very relatable.

Sweet Violence is relentless. Its wall to wall angst with angry screams and heavy drums and bass.

It is a good record but after a while the tracks started to blend into each other and if it wasn’t for the abrupt end to every song, I’d probably think that it was one massive track, with the exception of The Lotus King as halfway through the instrumentation changes to where it’s almost a completely different song as it’s mellow and calm for a short period before Mikey Chapman adds his vocal talents.
