Moodring – Your Light Fades Away

Florida Alt-Metal outfit Moodring are back with their first material since last year’s highly praised debut record Stargazer, which found the band breaking out in popularity and forcing the scene to pay attention. YOUR LIGHT FADES AWAY shows the band escalating to new heights and amping every aspect of their sound up to 11

Kicking off the project with the first track SHI=DEATH, which frontman Hunter describes as a song about insomnia and the effects it has on the mind and body. The track is a perfect introduction to the EP and showcases their progression as a band. Starting off with the familiar vocal style that everyone fell in love with on their last outing, before kicking you in the face with a brutal aggression proving that this project is a completely different beast for the band.

Next, we have the first single released from the project BLACK_WAVE. It’s an industrial, gritty, and dark track about “a narrator trapped inside a nihilistic headspace” says singer Hunter. This track features an earworm of a chorus that the band is known for, while having some of the heaviest refrains from them to date. One thing’s for sure, you won’t be able to help but make the stank face throughout this track.

Lastly, we have WOULDYOUWAITFORME and my personal favourite from the project. Which is this groovy, dark, electronic nu-metal influenced track. The high energy tempo that is consistent from start to finish gives you no choice but to shake your hips. The chorus hook is one that’ll be infused in your head for weeks, and one of the grooviest ending riffs I’ve heard all year. The only problem you’ll have is that it didn’t last longer

YOUR LIGHT FADES AWAY showcases what the band has been through since the release of their debut, and the difficult journey they’ve experienced. Stargazer grabbed everyone’s attention, and this project only solidifies that they’re a band who’s going to stand firm in the scene

YOUR LIGHT FADES AWAY is out now via UNFD. Checkout the EP on streaming services and pickup some merch from their website
