Lights recently released her new record Skin & Earth. It’s something a bit different to what we usually cover here on AltCorner but we were intrigued to have a listen!

Intro is a short melody that kicks right in to Skydiving. It’s poppy and catchy and while is definitely not something I usually listen to, is something I can have on in the background while doing work so it’s a positive start. Until The Light has a dancey vibe in the chorus and the instrumentation is very minimal, showing off Lights‘ vocals.

Savage is an early favourite for me lyrically. It reminds me a bit of an old-school Paloma Faith. Morphine is quite a hypnotic track, Kicks is a track that reminds me a bit of Taylor Swift but with more dignity and the attitude of Ke$ha. Moonshine is catchy. Closing track Almost Had Me is a ballad to begin then turns into a dancey-pop tune.

Altogether this is a record that you wouldn’t usually catch me listening to, however I truly enjoyed it! It has attitude, is relaxing and is perfect for a multitude of events.
