Brit hardcore/metallers Hometruths are set to release their debut EP Open Your Eyes on March 3rd. In 2016, they garnered attention after posting defaced images of their most despised icons including President Donald Trump, across several UK cities. We got our hands on the EP to let you know what you can expect form the quintet who have been likened to While She Sleeps, Stray From The Path and Sylar.

Opening track Embers is just a minute of what seems like background noise, like the feeling when you’re half-asleep and have left music on in the background. Feral is aptly titled as it is pretty savage and angry. It’s heavy and a track you can’t help but mosh to.

Divide follows straight on from its predecessor and continues the angry feel, not giving you a break at all. There’s a bit of an old-school nu-metal feel of the last minute of Divide. There’s a bit of a While She Sleeps feel to Vigilante, it’s quick, loud and heavy with some brilliant riffs. Closing track Genocide has some gang vocals and is a brutal assault that you just can’t stand or sit still when listening to (people are looking at me weird in the library as I’m writing this).

The tracks are like one giant song, flowing straight from one to the next. The instrumentation combines some shredding and the odd breakdown and is really in your face. The vocals are harsh and fit well with the record. This is a good effort from the Mancunians especially for a debut!
