Homebound are not the band I would usually listen to, labelling themselves as UK pop punk, much like a slightly heavier early Blink 182, but to my surprise I was impressed with the overall quality of the EP, mostly the melody and lyrics in the songs and I can now see why they have a good fan base all over the UK.

‘The Mould You Build Yourself Around’ is the bands most recent and 3rd EP and I was pleasantly surprised, its a much more accomplished sound than their previous efforts, with an intense feel to it and is definitely on the darker side of the spectrum for this genre of music in terms of lyrics and sound. Out of the 5 songs on the EP I would have to say ‘Distrait’ is my favourite, it shows signs of maturity in the lyrics which we can all relate too.

The only downside for me is that their songs are very similar in sound and most would argue that is the case with most bands and genres so I’m confident that true fans of ‘Pop Punk’ will not be phased by that and it doesn’t take away from the quality of the EP overall.

So it would seem the quartet from Surrey are here for the long haul and are set to have a solid 2017 which will please a lot of ‘UK Pop Punk’ fans.
