Hard rock quartet Eva Plays Dead, released their new EP, The Fix, on 27th April. The EP is five tracks of no nonsense hard rock. If you are fan of any 21st century hard rock, you’ll enjoy this. While they are a British band there are obvious influences from the American style of radio rock. The big choruses coupled with frontwoman Tiggy’s vocal styles mean that the songs on this EP will hold up well when put against the best of this genre.

While the songs on the most part follow the same basic blueprint followed by all bands of this ilk, there is a somewhat standout moment on opening track Spin. There is a bit in the pre chorus, where the melody is reminiscent of more industrial bands, such as Ministry. Apart from this the EP is very much by the numbers.

The Fix is not a bad EP and on it Eva Plays Dead show that they can do 21st century hard rock well. While it’s unlikely they will ever reach the size of some of their counterparts, this EP should certainly be considered by fans of this genre.
