Sit down, close those blinds, get ready to hear their latest album. Since 2006 Delain have released five albums and topped charts in Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland as well as the UK and Belgium.
I’m getting a taste of symphonic metal with a dash of pop added to the mix. The intro tune “One Second” you hear Joey de Boer kicks those drums like a pure-bred football player and that always catches my attention. At the forefront is vocalist Charlotte Wessels who bleeds character while being aligned with the odd doom guitar riff.
Apocalypse & Chill is theatrical operatic metal with booming guitar riffs. On “Vengeance” they introduce us to guest vocalist Yannis Papadopoulos, the two work well together with their diverse style of vocals. “Masters of Destiny” Wessels vocals explode in operatic panache with the musical instrumentation is a great tag team.
First time listening to this band was hearing this album, I do enjoy a good dollop of operatic metal and Charlotte Wessels vocals are astonishing in this symphonic metal of doom frame.
