Tomorrow, Canadian hardcorers Counterparts release their fifth album You’re Not You Anymore on Pure Noise Records.

Opening with a 38 second melodic instrumental in Walk Away Slowly builds up into an aggressive and in your face Bouquet, an angry track that abruptly ends. Arms Like Teeth and No Servant Of Mine all follow the same path as Bouquet.

Latest single Haunt Me continues in the same frame, Thieves is just over a minute long. A Memory Misread is one of the stand-out moments for me. Title track You’re Not You Anymore closes off the album with a strong hardcore track, much the same as the rest of the album.

Counterparts said that they were changing things up with more cleans but in all honestly, it sounds exactly like any non-melodic post-hardcore album. So if you’re a fan of Counterparts or hardcore, you’ll love this, it’s a good album but a bit too samey for me.
