The Somerset five-piece, Cardinal Bay have just released their brand new EP ‘Answers‘ which will quite honestly be the next big thing in the post-hardcore genre. Drawing comparisons from Mallory Knox and Saosin throughout the five hard-rocking songs that appear on this EP. Cardinal Bay are probably one of the best post-hardcore newcomers of 2016.
The EP starts with Answers, which is the title track to this mammoth EP. The introduction of the song starts off delicate compared to the rest of the song but do not be fooled as within 15 seconds, the band jumps straight into business. This song is fantastically written, making it my favourite song off of the EP, beyond any doubt. Without fail, the next two songs Out Of Sight and Shotgun, no matter how many times I listen to them simply just leave me in awe. The band definitely have a very unique and different sense of style, which is great to hear after listening to a lot of the mainstream bands within the rock culture at present. The lyrics and sound are very influential from this band as they strive to send out a real message. On this EP the band absorb sounds from talented bands such as The Blackout and dare I say, a hint of Asking Alexandria. The last 2 songs are Masquerade and There Are No Flames In Hell, which finishes the EP off brilliantly.
The band have showed with this EP that they have experimented since their last EP ‘Way Back Home’ which was released back in April 2015. A year later the band returns with a hard hitting and incredible comeback. The whole EP is just undeniably great, without a doubt you should totally check this band out, whether you’re an existing fan or a newcomer, this EP deserves your attention.
