Cancer Bats dropped their latest album The Spark That Moves out of nowhere on April 20th and it’s as groovy as expected, from the opening of Gatekeeper, the records opener to closer Winterpeg, we’re treated to angst, pulsating rhythms and groovy riffs. Fear Will Kill Us All brings a moment of deception with a piano intro before kicking back into the groove. While there is no denying the record is good, with shouty hooks and funky rhythms, there is a lack of variety and after a while of background listening, the album feel like it’s just one long album. If you’re a Cancer Bats fan, then this is definitely something you’ll enjoy, however, if you’re just browsing for something to listen to, you may find the lack of variety a bit off-putting.
