Bristolian metallers Awakening Hyperia are set to take 2017 by storm. We first got a taste of what was to come with their awesome debut track Breathe in August 2016. The quartet’s eclectic backgrounds and music taste create a blend of metal that keeps you guessing as to what is coming next. Debut EP Imbalance is set for release on January 8, 2017 and we got our hands on it early to let you know just why you should go and get it when it comes out!

Imbalance (Intro) is a forty second instrumental with a great mix of drums and riffs. It blends straight into Mirrors which has some great vocals and a prominent drum beat. Lead single Breathe effortlessly combines great dual vocals and riffs galore.

Free Fall has one of the best riffs I’ve heard in a while and is more of a hard rock track but is very catchy, even as it fades out, you’re still bobbing your head along to it. Perception of Me opens with a monster riff, setting the pace for an incredible track that is reminiscent in part of Linkin’ Park and a whole host of other artists, being the track where the eclectic influence shines through most.

Considering the fact the band are barely out of school (with an age range of just 16-18) their talent is very clear to see, giving the impression that they have been playing for longer than their years would allow. Lyrically, the EP is mature beyond their years and they truly bring something different to a genre that has become staler with every copycat release that comes out.
