If you could only listen to 5 albums or EPs for the rest of your life what would you choose? Kirsty Johnston, writer and interviewer for Alt Corner has made their selection and tells us why.
The 5 albums or EPs I would choose to listen to for the rest of my life would have to be;
5 Seconds of Summer‘s self titled album. It was their first ever album that the band brought out. 5SOS have a special place in my heart, one of my all time favourite bands and this album being their first album and as a fan waiting a good few years for this to finally be produced, was one of the best moments for me. The songs just bring back memories of when I was totally obsessed with the guys, having drifted apart from that obsession, to only listening to them once every day or sometimes not that often. Listening to this album really puts a genuine smile on my face, I love each and every song on this album and it is 100% my go to album.
My next album would be “Life’s Not Out To Get You” from my other all time favourite band, Neck Deep. Having only really found out about these guys a couple of years ago, I have grown such a liking to them and this album is spot on. Hearing the songs from the album live, especially “Citizen’s of Earth”, you can hear the pure talent. The album is packed with such heart felt songs, songs you can relate to and just classic pop punk/ skater punk tracks!
Next up is actually an EP! An EP I could listen to for the rest of my life would be “If You Were A Movie, This Would Be Your Soundtrack” by Sleeping with Sirens. A band that I have grew up with during my teenage years and will never get sick of hearing! This EP warms your heart, it really catches your emotions too. When listening to music, you always need some tracks that catch you right in the feels, and this EP does it for me! With songs like “Stomach Tied In Knots” and “Rodger Rabbit” you’ll be all emotional in no time!
Next album is State Champs, “The Acoustic Things”. We all love acoustic songs now and then, and this is the perfect album for it! State Champs is another band I recently came across a couple of years ago and ever since then, I’ve been hooked! Hearing acoustic versions of songs you love is always nice, “Elevated” acoustic is perfect. Derek’s voice acoustically is so chilled out, I love it. I could honestly without a doubt, fall asleep to acoustic tracks so this album is perfect for that.
My last album I would listen to for the rest of my life would be “Never Happy, Ever After” from As It Is. Having always listened to Patty Walters on his YouTube Channel, I grew to love As It Is from there. There’s not much to say on why I chose this album other than the fact I can listen to anything that As It Is bring out so an album full of this band is perfect for me.
