ARTIST PLAYLIST: Becky Blomfield of Milk Teeth

“I’m Becky I play bass and sing stuff in Milk Teeth. Here is my listening diary for the past month or so, hopefully you find something new to listen to or remember an old jam you forgot existed”.

headshotArtist Playlist is the new feature from AltCorner where members of your favourite band are in control! Each participant is asked to compile a list of bands and/or tracks that they cannot stop listening to right now and create the ultimate playlist!

Angels and Airwaves – Do It For Me Now

This song calms me. I listen to it on my ride to work a lot and have always loved the lyrics. It captures a moment and I love it when words can be visualised and play out like a movie in your head.

Ryan Adams – Firecracker

I’m a fan of Ryan’s work, his heartbreaker record is emo perfection. This is a lighter cut and I’m a sucker for a bluesy harmonica.

Eat Me – Big Love

These boys are gonna be huge! Jamie writes like nobody else I love and admire his lyrics and the band manage to combine making hits with pop hooks that have a sense of humour and cheekiness to them. There’s an honesty which is easy to connect with.

Code Orange – I Am King

This song makes me equal parts wish I was a drummer and want to punch somebody square in the face. The production is great I love the erratic messiness and the flips in time signature. It keeps you on your toes.

Neighborhood Brats – Total Dementia Gutsy

Summer punk jam. I love the moving riff and the pace of this. It’s a soundtrack to causing trouble!

Red Hot Chili Peppers – She’s Only 18

Anthony’s lyrics are something else. I love how he fuses dirtiness and sexiness with thinking outside of the box with his words. He takes you on a trip with what he’s saying. I’m a long time fan, I was disappointed with their live show at Reading this year which bummed me out but I can’t fault their music, they’re doing something original.

Marilyn Manson – Disposable Teens

Massively went on a Manson splurge the past few weeks and remembered why I love him. I’m a sucker for filthy anthems with an edge and this ticks every box.

Undermine – Nashville (from the TV Soundtrack)

I’ve been getting the boys hooked on this tv show (whether they like it or not) and I’ve fallen for the soundtrack. I wouldn’t say I’m big on country music but I love a great hook and this song has one of the catchiest.

Calvin Harris ft. Florence Welch – Sweet Nothing (Grandtheft & Diplo Trap Remix)

This remix gets me feeling like nobody can fuck with me, it’s a sad song mixed in a way that makes it empowering and I like that juxtaposition. I think there’s something really beautiful about being able to throw yourself around to a song that sounds euphoric but when you listen closer and pay attention to the words is raw and sad.

Spring King – Detroit

I saw these guys for the first time at bestival and got instantly attached. They’re fun, with a big sound. They remind me of a homegrown version of FIDLAR. Im easily swayed by a fast paced guitar, a big chorus and a desire to have fun and these guys bring that by the pint. I hope to be able to watch them play again some time soon.
