There were a load of albums and EPs released in 2024, so I narrowed down my top five released of the year!
Dead Poet Society – Fission
A decent, new sound but still with something that felt familiar to me. It set the bar high for 2024 releases, and it’s kept with me throughout the months. Not to mention, I fully enjoyed seeing them live, and would love to see them again soon.
Charlotte Sands – Can We Start Over?
Probably number 1 for album of the year. Each listen feels like the first, and again, I still listen to it on repeat, screaming the lyrics and experiencing all of the feelings. It’s modern, but had that classic sound from 00s/90s pop punk. Seeing it performed live was an incredible time, but I’m always blown away by seeing Charlotte Sands live.
Scene Queen – Hot Singles in Your Area
It was an album I’d been waiting for, and didn’t know what to expect. It’s metal, but incredibly girly and that’s a mixture that I love. I didn’t get to the tour, but it doesn’t matter as I’m putting on my own performance with every listen.
Delilah Bon – Evil, Hate Filled Female
I love the way that Delilah Bon holds people accountable, while lifting up those that need it. Evil, Hate Filled Female was a perfect blend of self-love and political discourse, while exploring a mixture of sound and genre. I also want to give a little shout out to her latest single, Not the President, that had me in floods of tears. The raw emotion, and the empathy within the track, it’s a lovely song.
Noahfinnce – Growing Up on the Internet (Deluxe)
It’s been a great year for Noahfinnce, and I’ve been more and more impressed every time I’ve seen him. Growing Up on the Internet is a great album, and one that’s relatable. I’ve included the deluxe version as I’ve really enjoyed Pet With the Tism. It’s a sound that’s new, and young, and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next.
