Review: Crushed By Waves – More to Life

Rockers Crushed By Waves released their debut album More to Life not too long ago, which was music to the ears of Lizi!

Crushed By Waves recently released debut album More to Life.

The synth-laden opening of Nothing More gets the album off to a great start. It’s melodic with a nice steady drumbeat. It’s immediately anthemic with a huge chorus. It’s a great start. It gives off some BMTH vibes, akin to Follow You at times.

Dangerous is extremely catchy with the poppy bridge and chorus. It does a complete 180 however as it jumps into a scream and short breakdown before synths and a bit of spoken word before jumping into the chorus.

You Know is more of a dancey style with slightly masked vocals. At times it reminds me almost of Issues but honestly, better.

I love how angsty Optimistic is, talking about not giving a fuck what people think. It’s a huge song and has a really catchy chorus.

Faces is more intense with some scream vocals combining well with the cleans. This is also a similar sound to Lies which follows it. It’s a nice change of pace but also retains an almost Hands Like Houses sound for the chorus.

More to Life is definitely my kind of rock. It’s anthemic, has poppy style instrumentations and hooks, great guitar work and solid drums and bass.

The vocals are perfect for the style throughout the album and the atmospheric synths work well. Lyrically it’s a strong album too, with enough to relate to but also opening a window into the soul of the band and celebrating their ‘rebirth.’

Crushed By Waves say they are a live band and honestly I am extremely excited to see them live.
