SEASONS – ‘What Goes Around’ | EP Review

As a whole, this EP has been written amazingly from the catchy lyrics to the consistent and memorable drums beats which got me air-drumming for the whole day like any good song should. The melodic vocals and the strong backing vocals fit perfectly together and they are impressive. It’s pretty cool that a new band like this have released such a great EP after only being together a few months and I’m really enjoying their material and their songs are just extraordinary!

New and Upcoming band Seasons are an Alternative rock quintet from Bedfordshire, UK….and they’re set to release their newest EP titled ‘What Goes Around’ on the 18th of November. They consist of Grant Tuffs (Vocals), Matt Turnbull (Guitar/Vocals), Steve Watts (Guitar/Vocals), Bradley Beach (Bass) and Antony Cardinal (Drums/Vocals). Having released their first self-titled EP only a few months back in March titled ‘SEASONS’, this EP has been reviewed by Kerrang and were awarded a 4K for it. They’ve also appeared on Scuzz TV for their track ‘Sailed Ship’ which got them ready for their last EP launch.

The opening track ‘Empire’, the track opens with some very talented and melodic vocals from Grant, the backing vocals from Matt, Steve and Bradley are very sweet and melodic also. This track flows easily and has a very memorable rhythm. “Wake me up again….wake me up to tell me it’s the end” This lyric is repeated the most in the track and I really like this lyric. The drums hold a good beat throughout the track. Favourite track! The guitar riffs and bass line are very catchy

‘When We Were Young’ is the next track, it opens with a medley of strong guitar riffs and some impressive drum beats which kept a rather catchy rhythm.  The very vocals again were ace, the vocals were clearly highlighted again.

‘Last Words’ this tracks begins a bit differently from the other tracks as the guitars are very quiet, strumming some light riffs and the vocals get the spotlight that they definitely deserve as his vocals are impressive and unique in his own way to me. The vocals during the chorus are very angelic through to the end of the track, his vocals stand out perfectly in the track. His vocal range does change slightly in this track as he has much slower vocals than the other tracks. The drums mainly kick after the first verse and they’re very light and the guitar riffs keep at a steady rhythm.

‘Rewind and Replay’, once this track started the drums hit me even though they kept on a consistent laid back beat. I really like how Grant can hit some of the higher notes on the EP, his vocals flow naturally and are potent.

‘Fires’ the vocals are a bit more energetic and the backing vocals contribute a bit heavy. “hold back….woah” backing vocals underline certain lines or words which is pretty impressive and this simple line is very memorable. The strong and very energetic drumming from Antony really keep the energy high throughout the track.
