I recently reviewed SEASONS’ new EP and today I was off to SEASONS’ first day of tour in Cardiff. Their were three bands on the line up these were Montreux Fires, SEASONS and Nineteen Fifty Eight.

Up first were new comers Montreux Fires. A welsh female fronted Alt rock band from Cardiff. The quartet consists of Lydia Mcdonald (Vocals), Nick Masters-Williams (Guitar), Dafydd Richards (Bass/Synth) Arwel Brown (Drums). Throughout, the vocalist and guitarists/bassist were very energetic making their presence known on stage, jumping around on stage and it looked like they really enjoyed their time on set. Lydia’s vocals were beautiful and melodic, all the high notes she hit was perfect and I really liked her unique vocal style. During the first track ‘Our Little Life’, I really liked Lydia and Dafydd’s voices together. There was some crowd interaction during ‘Trying’ when the band got the crowd swaying their arms to the track. They played some of their tracks from their EP ‘Discourse’, ‘Trying’ and also a very good Twenty One Pilots cover of ‘Heathens‘. This cover was by far my favourite cover of this track!

Next up were Co-headliners SEASONS. They’re an Alt rock quintet from Bedfordshire, UK. The band consists of Grant Tuffs (Vocals), Matt Turnbull (Guitar/Vocals), Steve Watts (Guitar/Vocals), Bradley Beach (Bass) and Antony Cardinal (Drums/Vocals). As I mentioned before, I reviewed their EP so it was lovely to finally see the guys live and hear the new tracks! Minus the bad sound in the venue, the band played an excellent set and as I’ve reviewed them I knew the talent that they had. Grant’s melodic vocals carried the band through their tight set of new songs from the EP including Empire, Fire and Seven Years which kept the crowd interested. The guitarists and bassist were very lively making full use of the stage. The vocalist kept his energy levels high throughout ever track. I couldn’t Antony on drums but from what I heard the drums were very good!

And last but not least were Nineteen Fifty Eight. Nineteen Fifty Eight are a Swansea based alternative/ rock quintet which consists of members Ceryn Sara (Vocals), Charlie Pitson (Lead Guitar), Jared Planas (Rhythm Guitar), Isaac Griffiths (Bass Guitar) and Liam Grundie (Drums). This was the second female fronted band of the night and it was a superb set. I’ve seen these guys play many times before and I’m always left impressed and I always enjoy their set. For the whole night the stage’s lighting was very dark but this set stood out…they had cute fairy lights around the stage, it did look pretty. The crowd size they had was pretty good and from what I could see the crowd seemed to enjoy the set. Ceryn’s sweet and melodic vocals were perfect throughout the set, the guitars and bass were very impressive and the drums were awesome. Their energy was kept high as they glided through tracks; Elude You, Bones and my favourite track Backbiting.

Overall it was definitely one of the best gigs I’ve been to! Every band kept me smiling and I loved every second.
