Patriot Rebel – Cynics Playground

Being my first experience with Patriot Rebel, Cynics Playground is certainly an excellent way to get introduced to them. This EP has gotten me totally hooked on them and I’m craving more, live shows, new releases, anything to keep my new found love for them burning. This is definitely one of my new favourite EPs and I encourage you to pick up a copy for yourself as soon as you can.

Fresh off a tour for their First EP ‘Two Worlds’, Patriot Rebel, once again took to the studio to record an amazing musical experience for anyone into Alternative Music.

Their latest EP, Cynics Playground, opens with “Digital Mannequin” which starts, excellently, with some of the best drum work I’ve heard in a while before kicking straight into some truly excellent guitar work, setting an excellent pace for the release and getting you truly pumped up for the other four tracks. The vocal work on show is another strength of this band, almost like it’s taken straight from the late 80’s.
Taking it to another level, track two, “Self Hate”, keeps the energy high and keeps the hard rock party going. It’s another great track with a brilliant guitar opening and a signature driving drum beat. The combination of these aspects on this track have me craving to start head banging the minute it starts playing…definitely one I’d love to hear live.
With the next track, “Dying Breed”, everything takes a step back as they kick into a beautifully written easy going song, something you could sit and have a few beers whilst listening to, for sure. Honestly, it’s my surprise favourite on this release.

“All I Wanted” is the fourth track on the album, returning to the high energy of the other songs whilst having a more relaxed way of going about doing it and keeping in toe with the rest of the tracks. Everything about this track is on point, it’s almost like every track on this album was written for me to love it.
Finally, “Miss-Guided” ends our trip with Patriot Rebel, sadly, and what a way to end it, featuring one of my new favourite guitar solos and brilliantly written lyrics it’s certainly a show stopper.

Being my first experience with Patriot Rebel, Cynics Playground is certainly an excellent way to get introduced to them. This EP has gotten me totally hooked on them and I’m craving more, live shows, new releases, anything to keep my new found love for them burning.
