Pennsylvania four piece The Last Ten Seconds of Life are back with their new album The Violent Sound, their latest offering since the crushing album Souless Hymns in 2015.

This new chapter in their work sees Robert C (vocals), Wyatt McLaughlin (guitar), Mike Menocker (bass), Christian Fisher (drums) wade into more melodic waters. The trademark low lining grooves are still there but the arrival of new vocalist Robert C is somewhat refreshing. He puts out a huge range of diverse tones while still maintaining that front like aggression well. It’s clear to see why they are taking the US metal scene by storm.

To save myself from penning a 10 page review since there is sooo many great tracks on this album, I’ve picked out my favourites for your enjoyment.

My most favourite in particular is Little Black Line. The title is just as cool, off with a powerful start it’s definitely a track to love from the album. Drums and vocals are so so good on this one, you just can’t get enough. Worthy of mention is the superb ending screams.
Next is the albums namesake The Violent Sound. To me this track reflects the artwork perfectly and if you listen and look it’ll bring it too life (to me anyway). Again another powerful start with a 10/10 guitar riff and ace vocals from Robert C. You really will be lost in the Violent Sound of this heart thumping, mosh pit starting anthem.

Finally on my (top 3?!) list is Last Words. I would say it is something more toned down for you to have a breather from the previous track but WRONG. Get moving cause this one is on fire. Drums and bass work in harmony and the vocals just hold so much bitterness. Robert C literally spits them at your face (you can imagine) 10/10.

Overall this new piece of melodic wonder has really pulled it out the bag for TLTSOF. Listen up for when they announce their UK/Euro tour this autumn so you can expect to have your stage crushed in front of you and your face (probably) broken in Europe very soon.
