Formed in 2013, Hellions are a five piece band from Sydney, Australia. Made up of vocalist Dre Faivre, drummer Anthony Caruso, bassist Chris Moretti, guitarists Matthew Gravolin and Josh Campiao. The band release their third album, Opera Oblivia.
The album provides us with a mixture of genres. Songs such as “Quality of life”, “He without sin” provide us with the more heavier side of Hellions, where as “24”, “Lotus Eater”, “Bad Way” and “25” are the more pop rock, colourful songs. “Thresher” provides us with more melodic vocals, while “Nightliner Raphsody” gives us a more aggressive punk feel. “Nuestra Culpa” is a more hauting, spoken word song.
Hellions have so far failed to put out a terrible album. It feels as if each album has represented their growth more more, both lyrically and musically. Opera Oblivia is no different. Their mix of theatrics with rap and rock vocals provides us with something that is not really about that much anymore and it is a good thing. Overall, this is an incredible, eclectic album that will no doubt suit fans of all genres.
