Balance and Composure’s new album ‘Light We Made’

As a whole the album comes together beautifully and it is a very well written album. From beginning to end, Jon’s vocals are very melodic which is a highlight in the album. The drum beats were strong and lively throughout the tracks. My favourite track on the album is definitely ‘Postcard’ purely based on the lyrics “we’re looking at the stars, connected by our constellations”.

Balance and Composure are a quintet from Doylestown, PA. They’re up and ready with a new album. The UK Physical was recently released on the 4th November and their digital release is available. The band consists of Jon Simmons (Singer/Guitarist), Erik Peterson (Guitar), Andy Slaymaker (Guitar), Matt Warner (Bassist) and Bailey Van Ellis (Drums).

On the track ‘Spinning’, the first thing you notice is Jon’s whisper like tone as he hypnotically repeats the title phrase “the lights we made/Into your eyes” like a mantra, weaving the cryptic message in and out of the song. Further into the track Jon’s vocals are very light and melodic. The drums are not heavy but the beats blend beautifully with the vocals. Likewise, the guitar riffs and bass line have a really nice tune.

‘For A Walk’, this track has a faster pace but not too fast. The drums beat are my favourite thing about this track because these consistent drum beats are catchy. When Jon repeats the track title “Take me for a walk…I’ll go where you are…Take me for a walk” the lyrics become very unforgettable. The guitars and bass are interesting in this track and they sound different from other tracks.

‘Postcard’ opens with short instrumental from the guitars and drums before the vocals start which sounds beautiful. Yet again Jon’s vocals are very melodic and his vocals blend well with the guitars and bass. For the most of the track the drums have a consistent repetitive tune. The lyrics are beautifully written “we’re looking at the stars, connected by out constellations”.

‘Fame’, So far I’ve loved Jon’s melodic vocals and this track highlights his vocals perfectly. The drums throughout this track were brilliant, keeping at a good pace and at certain points were catchy and memorable. The guitar riffs and bass line are very good.
