Autumn Ruin are a pop rock band from Manchester. If you’re a fan of the likes of Don Broco, You Me At Six and Young Guns you’ll probably like this record! The band have shared the stage with the likes of Don Broco and The Hoosiers as well as toured the UK with pop rockers Room 94.
The melodic overlay of title track We Make Our Own Damn Luck fits the vocals well. With ‘woahs’, it is a catchy track. Next up is OneTwoThree it’s opening drum beat grabs the attention. There is a bit of a false lull when the drum beat builds up intensity before stopping for an almost acoustic stanza, building back up again. Vocally very tight. Another catchy track.
Forward is my favourite track on the record. Starting off as more of a ballad, making the vocals shine through, before building up into a melodic rock track.
The record is very catchy, and will have you singing along by the end of the first listen. Combining the catchy poppy hooks that will have you singing along and arena ready choruses with the softer rock elements of gritty guitars. The vocals are very melodic and sound great throughout. All in all, a very well put together record.
