Artio opened the night. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I missed their performance. However, having listened to their music beforehand, I’d say they are the ideal opening band for this incredible lineup.
Next on stage was the Irish emo band Greywind. I had heard many positive things about them, so I was eagerly anticipating their performance – and let me tell you, it was a treat! The energy on stage and the theatrics from vocalist Steph O’Sullivan made their set a joy to watch. If you haven’t heard of them, definitely give their music a listen.
Finally, it was time for As December Falls, easily the happiest band I’ve ever seen live. Opening with ‘More To You‘ and ‘Join The Club,’ it was evident from the get go that this would be an incredible show. Front woman Bethany Hunter was so much fun to watch, with her energetic dancing and infectious smile. It would be hard to have a bad time watching them. Her interaction with both bandmates and the crowd was unmatched, highlighting that this is a band that genuinely loves their fans.
Throughout the entirety of the set, the energy was never lost, and the band seemed to enjoy every second of it which was reflected by their crowd of adoring fans. One aspect I appreciate is when a band announces they have a couple of songs left but won’t leave the stage for the whole encore routine. While encores can be entertaining for the crowd and the band, I fully respect bands that prefer to play more music than spend time leaving and returning when it’s expected. As December Falls concluded their set with ‘Ride,’ it was the perfect, fun end to an already spectacular night.
