Coming swiftly off the back of ‘Meditations On Loss’, the band’s first new music since early 2015, Brighton’s Tall Ships return today with the track’s accompanying clip – directed by Ben Phethean, brother of the band’s frontman Ric.
The video, which perfectly matches the track for intensity and symbolism, aims to “represent the futility of existence,” say the band. “The sprint from birth to death and the constant questioning of what we’re running from, for or to. The video was directed by, and features, close friends and family.” Alongside Ric’s brother Ben being involved on directorial duties, his cousin Tama also stars in the video.
‘Meditations On Loss’, debuted on Huw Stephens’ Radio 1 show last week, rages through its three-and-a-half minutes with an intensity that has been seldom seen in the band’s discography to date, adding another colour to their sonic palette.
Next month the band will be touring the UK for the first time in over a year, supporting Cambridge alt-rock quintet Lonely the Brave across England and Scotland, interspersed with headline dates throughout October.
