Ever wondered what your favourite artists think is their best song they’ve written? How about the meaning behind it? Well don’t fret because we at AltCorner have got you covered! In the first of a new series, Matt Dunne, vocalist of The Final Clause Of Tacitus takes us behind the scenes on his favourite TFCOT song!
What is your favourite song you’ve written?
That is like asking a parent to pick their favourite child. All the songs I have written have their own personal qualities. However, I will choose our latest single Walk On The Moon off our upcoming EP Not Like The Rest as it’s the most current.
What inspired the song?
This song was inspired by a fateful night at Reading Festival. Me and my best mate were on our way back after the bands had finished in the evening and we were a bit… inebriated, to put it politely. We were arm in arm and due to not being able to walk straight, we started lifting our legs up high and walking like we were on the moon, in slow motion. We then used the term ‘walking on the moon’ for years to describe how fucked up we were. It was like a way of saying “I’m at a good level, but any more and I’m done”.
What is it about the track that makes it special to you?
The lyrics to this song are an ode to my friends and all the countless nights we have been up until the sun rises. “Walking on the moon until we see the sun”. We had many a good night and also those bad ones too. This song for me sums up all the ups and downs and how I wouldn’t have changed it for the world.
