New records to look out for: Teasers for October 20

Welcome to our weekly round up of some of the recently announced albums and EPs we’re most excited for!

While She Sleeps – Self Hell

While She Sleeps will release new album Self Hell on March 15, 2024.

Sean Long says, “The name of the album is the foundation of how we view ourselves and the world. Everyone has a subjective experience like no other. Yet the constant that binds us IS the differences between us and the fact that we are all suffering in our own way. Don’t be too quick to judge and demonise, your time will come for redemption or damnification.

We’ve been drawing inspiration from an array of misfit artists far from where you would usually pigeonhole While She Sleeps. Each member has brought in a different perspective of inspiration so far apart in genre that it has left us with a very odd and satisfying sonic. While She Sleeps will continue to keep the world guessing on what we will do next. Not only for the fans but this is a spiritual venture that we have to keep alive, moving, and constantly in flux. We do this by scaring ourselves with things we are not supposed to do. Every. Single. Day.”

Florence Black – Bed of Nails

Florence Black will release new album Bed of Nails on December 1.

The band said: “Since our debut album release in 2021, we have been really busy touring in the UK and EU and, alongside our busiest touring year in 2022, we had written and demoed more than fifty songs. We spent a long time selecting and arranging our songs and feel that they are not just our best to date, but also the ones that show our development as a band. We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved. BED OF NAILS is based around the theme of love. The good, the bad and everything in between that emotion. We had an amazing time in the studio recording it with Romesh. He has helped us to create the exact sound we were aiming for and we believe that we have achieved exactly what we had imagined the album to be.

“‘LOOK UP’ is a proper driving track. It’s feel good central. The song is about loving someone but being aware of the consequences of doing so. The lyrics are metaphorical and could be interpreted in different ways, like looking forward to the future or being optimistic. The track has a more classical rock feel, a finger picked guitar riff, a driving bassline and huge drums!”

Lil Lotus – Nosebleeder

Lil Lotus will release album Nosebleeder on December 1 through Epitaph Records.

Lil Lotus said: Nosebleeder symbolises just being drained when it comes to life and everything that comes with it. Sometimes it can be the people that you’re surrounded by, sometimes it can just be completely internal; you could be completely alone and still have this draining experience with life. I feel like, in my experience, it’s had a lot to do with me not necessarily being very good to myself or putting myself in good situations. Neck Deep – Self-titled

Neck Deep will release their new self-titled album on January 19 through Hopeless Records.

“We’re so stoked to announce our new self made, self titled record,” shares vocalist Ben Barlow. “With a return to roots approach, we made this record ourselves at our warehouse in North Wales, with Seb (Barlow, bass) at the helm, and the rest of us over his shoulder, like it was at the start.”

“This album is the sound of us knowing ourselves and knowing our ability,” explains frontman and youngest Barlow sibling Ben. “It’s unapologetically us. We’re professional songwriters now and we’ve really honed in on what we’re good at – but it’s also about having fun and enjoying writing these tracks. And there are those little sonic signatures in the mix that even I can’t really put my finger on that just make it Neck Deep. It happens when we get in a room together and it clicks – it’s us just doing our thing like we always have.”

The Gems – Phoenix

Credit: Mikael Hulten

The Gems will release debut album The Phoenix on January 26 through Napalm Records.

The band said: Phoenix marks the beginning, the rise of The Gems. This album takes you on a journey through one of our toughest times. Through this creative process we were able to really dig deep and let go of a lot of emotional baggage, and find true happiness in music again. The new found freedom our band has been given us shines through on this album. We couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished, and the true Rock n Roll Sisterhood and community we’ve built through these few months of our existence. Phoenix is the perfect album for anyone going through a tough time, having the rug pulled out under you and somehow finding the strength to rebuild.
