In this week’s New Records Round Up, we bring you teasers for 10 recently announced albums.
Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts – Troubled Paradise

Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts will release new EP Troubled Paradise on October 16 through Gypsy Rose Records.
“I want to do something that means something to people,” Tuk says, “because a lot of shit nowadays is so disposable and so plastic. I just don’t connect with that. I’d like to do things that impact people positively.
“It’s a weird time on the planet, so to have songs about hope, but not be cheesy about it, it’s something I think we need with songwriting. That’s the kind of music I want to hear.
“Rock ’n’ roll is essentially the illusion of not giving a fuck, right? Like, you know Axl Rose was doing sit-ups and jump rope, and Paul Stanley was on a cardio machine, and they come out and act like it just happens. The point is I sit at that piano many hours, working on this stuff.”

Ho99o9 – Tomorrow we Escape

Ho99o9 will release new album Tomorrow we Escape on September 9.
“When we started this process, we knew we wanted to make more relatable songs,” says theOGM.
“It was a healthy challenge to focus on emotion. In the past, a lot of our material was politically charged. That element is present to a degree, but we wanted to take a more personal route. This mindset drove how we wrote songs. Everybody has a struggle. The goal is to find motivation for preservation.”
Helloween – Giants & Monsters

Kai Hansen adds: “We try not to take ourselves and everything around us too seriously.”
Deris said: “In the end, we’re just seven guys who want to make music and enjoy the incomparable force that arises when we’re together. HELLOWEEN is way more powerful than the sum of its parts.”

LIV SIN – Close Your Eyes

LIV SIN will release new album Close Your Eyes on August 8 through Seek and Strike!
On the title track, LIV SIN said: “We chose the album’s title track, ‘Close Your Eyes,’ as the first single/video for mainly two reasons. We got the amazing vocalist, Lars Palmqvist from Scar Symmetry, to join us, and the song has a straight up melodic chorus that everyone was instantly hooked on.
“The song also has a darker edge to it, since it covers the topic of human trafficking. Liv got the idea for the lyrics after watching a documentary about people being tricked into trafficking across eastern Europe.
“In the video, we tried to recreate the feeling of being all alone in a dark room with different strangers coming and going. Liv sings and screams out her inner frustrations reflecting on the world today with a deep longing for a better world.”

It focuses on grief, taking inspiration from vocalist/guitarist Max Lajoie’s grief over the loss of both of his parents.
Max said: “When I was 17, my dad passed away from suicide.
“Then 10 years later my mom called me to tell me she had cancer, and 10 days later she passed.
“Desertion is more about how these tragedies have informed so much of my life–it’s about trying to look them in the eye and reassess them as an adult. I want to move past them but I also want to take some kind of lesson from them.”

Lanvall (guitar/keyboards) said: “Set The Dark On Fire sees us remain true to ourselves stylistically while making some important adjustments together with our long-standing mixing and mastering engineer Karl Groom (Threshold). The result is the most dynamic, heavy, and at the same time most melodic work to date in the history of Edenbridge.”
Greywind – Severed Heart City

Greywind will release new album Severed Heart City on September 19 through FLG.
The Irish emo duo said: “Severed Heart City is an extended allegory for the stages of trauma, and one’s inner struggle to find resolution.
“There are many roads that lead to the heart of this broken city, but there is only one bridge out – one of acceptance and hope. Our band was created after the suicide of our uncle and since then we’ve been on an intense journey of achieving some of our biggest dreams to then having everything ripped away from us.
“Severed Heart City is a place where it’s ok to be sad, depressed and feel like the whole world is against you but it’s also a place where you make sure none of those things ever make you give up on yourself or your dreams. Only you can save yourself.”

The album focuses on overcoming personal issues and pushing yourself into a new phase of life.

The Youth Play – someday, forever

Credit: Pedro Soler
The Youth Play will release new EP someday, forever on August 15.
Diego Bracho said: “The EP delves mainly into our social, environmental, and humanitarian crisis and the human experience around those. It’s a combination of frustrating and truly painful moments, and how they intersect with experiences that are hopeful and life affirming.
“It also explores self appreciation at times where you struggle to recognise your selfworth, letting go of the past and situations that are out of your reach and truly believing in yourself as the only true constant in this life. Searching for joy in times that feel joyless.”
