Volbeat – God of Angels Trust

Volbeat will release new album God of Angels Trust on June 6 through Vertigo/Universal.
“In the past, I’ve taken a long time to write and obsessed over so many elements of the songs before finishing them,” says guitarist/vocalist Michael Poulsen.
“This time, I wanted to make a Volbeat record without thinking too much about it. Instead of following any kind of structure I said, ‘Okay, there are no rules. I can do anything I want. I can start with a chorus or do songs that are just a bunch of verses stacked on top of each other. Anything goes.’ That was freeing for me and made it exciting to write this album.”

Wolves At The Gate – Wasteland

Credit: Aaron Marsh
Wolves At The Gate will release new album Wasteland on May 30 through Solid State Records.
“Throughout the whole album, we are exploring different concepts through the lens of a broader narrative and story,” says vocalist/guitarist Steve Cobucci.
“With ‘Parasite,’ we wanted to write a song that explores the relationship between a parasite and its host. It’s such a powerful metaphor for the way that we all relate with our own weaknesses, tendencies, and sin.”
“As I was working on the album and especially the lyrics, I began to realize that the Wasteland was a metaphor for a frame of mind that I don’t want to live in, but a world I feel myself drawn back into over and over again,” Cobucci reveals.
“I hate it. It’s a world of empty promises. It’s a mirage. A counterfeit.”

“We feel like we’ve paid our dues, and this album is the culmination of all that effort.”

Candlemass – Black Star

Credit: Linda Åkerberg
Candlemass will release new EP Black Star on May 9 through Nuclear Blast Records.
The EP is a celebration of 40 years of the band.
Leif Edling said: “Not all bands get to see their 40th birthday and it certainly hasn’t been an easy ride. But many ups and downs later, we stand here as survivors, veterans even… a bit scarred perhaps? Still ready though to unleash another piece of doom-laden metal upon an unsuspecting world. You have to do something when you turn 40, right? Anyway, as always, it’s been fun recording some new stuff as well as covering a couple of old favorites.”
Tracklist:
Black Star
Corridors of Chaos
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Forever My Queen
