New records to look out for – August 9

Every Friday we delve through the multitude of new record announcements to find the ones that we think are the most promising.

Lagwagon – Railer

Lagwagon will be revealing their new album Railer to the world on October 4 through Fat Wreck Chords.

It’s their ninth album and frontman Joey Cape says the title is “a funny word from childhood that means ‘silly bad’, like lame.”

SeeYouSpaceCowboy – ‘THE CORRELATION BETWEEN ENTRANCE AND EXIT WOUNDS’

‘Sasscore’ band SeeYouSpaceCowboy will be releasing their new album The Correlation Between Entrance and Exit Wounds on September 27, through Pure Noise Records.

The band said: “The Correlation Between Entrance and Exit Wounds is a record that deals with loss, growth, and the struggle to stay alive in a world that seems to be constantly working against you.

This record is a bit of a departure from our previous material. When we decided to start writing we talked a lot about what we wanted to do and what we thought people expected us to do. Ultimately we decided to write a record that felt true to us and where we were at that point in time, to not let what we’re expected to do dictate anything about us moving forward.

Microwave – Death Is A Warm Blanket

Microwave‘s new record Death Is A Warm Blanket will be revealed to the world on September 13 through Pure Noise Records.

The record sees the band go into a darker and more aggressive territory than before for their label debut. Discussing everyday issues in adulthood, socio-political world and the constant worries about health and money, it is an album that finds catharsis in chaos and a strange kind of nihilistic freedom. The anthemic elements of ’90s alternative collide with unbridled post-hardcore aggression and heaviness to create something uniquely exhilarating, honest, angry, apocalyptic, and even fun. Death Is A Warm Blanket might be an album about how the end is near, but it signals an exciting new chapter for Microwave.

Float To The Top

“There are also new sides to my lyrics and songwriting I didn’t know I had on this album. I feel like there’s a song for everyone. I hope It speaks to listeners as much as it speaks to me.  With HALFNOISE, ‘Natural Disguise’ is my greatest achievement yet.”

We wanted to create something that infused elements of bands that we have all separately taken influence from, with heavy breakdowns that will excite fans of heavier music, but the jumpy pop punk rhythms and melodies that will excite fans of bands like ‘Neck Deep’, ‘State Champs’ and the like, with lyrics that everyone who listens can relate to, talking about issues that most people will experience in their day to day lives.”
