Citizen will release new album Halcyon Blues on August 7 through Run For Cover Records.

A lot of bands try to do anything they can to be the hottest thing of the moment and we’ve just never operated like that,” says guitarist Nick Hamm.

We don’t think in moments, or months, or record cycles. Some bands end up getting sick of whatever walls they exist in, but I see Citizen as this long term creative project where there’s always somewhere new to go, and that’s kept me exhilarated through all these years. And we’ve trusted that people who like our band will want to come along. A lot of people grew with us and we’re really thankful for that.”

Kris said: We wanted big singalongs, big riffs, big solos.

The kind of hard rock music that belongs in arenas; dense, complex and able to energise the biggest crowds.

Kris adds: I am who I am, and I like to play complicated guitar solos… this album is full of ’em, but they elevate the songs, never detract from them.”

The Menzingers will release new album Everything I Ever Saw on July 17 through Epitaph.

Vocalist/guitarist Tom May said: So much changed in our lives and in the world while we were making this record, and somehow, it all pulled us deeper into the band and deeper into our friendship.

“20 years in and this is the most connected we’ve felt to what we’re doing. I’d always heard ‘bigger kids, bigger problems,’ and there’s truth in that, but there’s also bigger answers and deeper meaning. There’s a kind of hard-won hope you can only find on the other side of real change. In all the uncertainty of life and the world it’s easy to go straight to cynical. Easy to say fuck it all. With ‘Everything I Ever Saw,’ we wanted to lean into all of it, head on. The whole damn thing.”

The band have also released the title track and said: With DEATHRACE, we realized very early on that we hadn’t just written a single for the album, but also the title track.

For one thing, the track has that energy we feel when we’re on stage celebrating with the crowd. On the other hand, the song describes the state of the world pretty accurately; alongside anger and despair, there’s also a call to stick together in these times.”

Every song has its own character and place for us, shaped through sessions in home studios and late nights, before coming together in Roundhead’s Brick Room, taking advantage of the vintage synths and timepiece guitars, as we explored and refined the overarching soundscape for the project.”
