Welcome to our New Records Round Up, the weekly lowdown on the albums to look out for!

In this week’s New Records Round Up, we bring you teasers for 10 recently announced albums and EPs.

Pendulum – Inertia

Pendulum will release new album Inertia on August 22 through Mushroom Music.

It’s the band’s first album in 15 years.

The record features guest appearances from Bullet For My Valentine, AWOLNATION, Wargasm, and Scarlxrd.

“I was basically testing how far we could push Pendulum,” Rob admits.

“Seeing what we could get away with. I always looked at The Prodigy as the benchmark. They started out as pure rave – breakbeat, hardcore – but they evolved. They became their own sound. You don’t even really associate them with breakbeat anymore. They just are The Prodigy.”

“It’s the sound of Pendulum finding themselves again, and me figuring myself out to a certain extent,” Rob said of the record

“Breakups do that – they strip things down and show you who you are. I’m just trying not to become the guy who needs to go through one just to make a record.”

Joe & The Shitboys – Greatest Shits

Credit: Akira Carré

Joe & The Shitboys will release new album Greatest Shits on August 29 through Alcopop! Records.

The album will include the band’s first three releases and some new singles!

Frontman Joe said: “On a snowy day, I got asked if I wanted to do a bullshit one-off punk single called ‘The Reson For Hardcore Vibes’, in a band called Joe & The Shitboys—and I was gonna be Joe. What was supposed to be bullshit, turned out to be fucking fire, thus we marched on, and did our best to break down the conservative values and general assholes in the Faroe Islands, while the rest of the world got to join in if they pleased.”

“3 ‘Reson For Hardcore Vibes’ albums on 7” vinyl later, I present to you our first LP: “GREATEST SHITS”, a greatest hits album that coincidentally contains all three albums, but we’re also throwing in a brand new EP. “DAM.” was recorded on analogue in Amsterdam, and it’s our most ambitious project yet, treading into new grounds, and on new assholes. Hopefully we’re out of resons for hardcore vibes now.”

Gans – Good for the Soul

Gans will release debut album Good for the Soul on September 19 through Strap Originals.

GANS drummer/vocalist Euan Woodman said: “GOOD FOR THE SOUL was the ultimate journey for us. You have your entire life to write a debut record and this is ours. 24 years of life distilled through noises and vibrations.

“We went to the Welsh countryside in December 2024 to write the record. We hired a cottage for 10 days, armed ourselves with enough food, booze, weed and music to listen to that would keep us inspired, and we wrote about 15/16 songs. It was an idyllic place with a little brook flowing in the garden – all very Led Zeppelin.

“We then took those songs to Ross Orton who had produced ‘IN TIME’ and ‘I THINK I LIKE YOU’ with us already.

“We started recording with him in the first week of January 2025 so it was all super-fast. brand new songs we loved and Ross was great to work with, he inspired us and challenged us. He’s a bit of a nutter – but that’s kinda what we like, we like to be around interesting characters. After 3 weeks in Sheffield we had a record done.”

He said: “Soulless is soft teal. 101 North is bright black. Your Dress On Me is DNA burgandy. Sex In The Car; diamond yellow. (thirtyseven); transparent. Fine From A Distance; overcast seafoam. Overmorrow, grayish red. Nothing Something Everything Onemorething; pastel cream. Wander With Me; elderberry. I often hear in color. For me, that’s Ordinary.”

Grandson will release new album Inertia on September 5 through his own XX Records in partnership with Create Music.

The theme of his third album is the clamour for “growing need for class solidarity that can be achieved by seeing that across any political spectrum, people stand to benefit from the consolidation of power in the hands of the many against the few.”

He said: “So many people are fighting for different things.”

“I believe that finding connection with one another, through music or otherwise, and making collective demands for a brighter, better future, can lead us to a more holistic way of living, thinking, and consuming. It all starts with a cathartic release of energy.”

Fit For A King – Lonely God

Credit: Jonathan Weiner

Fit For A King will release new album Lonely God on August 1 through Solid State Records.

“In general, ‘Lonely God’ relates to the pursuit of power,” shares frontman Ryan Kirby about the track. “They’re trading companionship, relationships, and love for power and money. You may have all of the power and be a ‘God,’ but it’s a lonely spot because the world despises you.”

“Lonely God is the result of us writing with no agendas. We didn’t care about which song could be viral, or if we needed radio tracks, etc. We just wrote what we wanted, for the first time, in a really long time.

“All five of us have our fingerprints on this album. We found a way to balance our voices. We’ve always been genuine with the lyrics, and that’s the case again. There’s so much heart behind all of the instrumentation too. There’s definitely a lot of growth because our bond is tighter than ever.”
