In this week’s New Records Round Up, we bring you teasers for six recently announced albums and EPs.
The records come from all across the alternative music world.
State Champs – State Champs
State Champs will release their self-titled fifth album on November 8 through Pure Noise Records.
The album was produced by Anton DeLost and showcases the best parts of the 15 years of the band.
Frontman Derek DiScanio said: “We found our way, through the ups and downs within us, personally and as a band, and wanted to express that.
“This is the right time to showcase it.”
Bassist Ryan Scott Graham added: “When we stepped back and looked at the songs, sonically and thematically, it’s a great vision of who we are. Every era of State Champs exists within this record.”

Better Lovers – Highly Irresponsible
Better Lovers will release their debut album Highly Irresponsible on October 25 through Sharptone Records.
Jordan Buckley said: “Writing and recording our first full length was slightly more surgical than the EP, but had a similar lack of restraint.
“I feel more pressure writing this press release than I felt all winter in Will’s studio. I got to wake up everyday and watch the masters perfect their craft. I was a student. It was a playground. Everything was funny. We were reading each other’s minds. Even creating our own language at some points.
“I didn’t know if I was watching my closest friends write music, or if I was watching music use us to exist. The voice in my head warning me how highly irresponsible it was to hop on this bull again was gone. Replaced by bad ideas, inside jokes, and a rejuvenated love for helping to write songs that don’t sound like anything else.
“Humans and animals alike are programmed to do wild things for what they love. Highly irresponsible things. And we love what we’ve created. We know you will too.”
Greg Puciato adds: “New album. First full length. It’s a typical thing to say, but we’re excited to start getting this out there. Everyone really brought their best to the album, and brought out the best in each other, and that goes for everyone behind-the-scenes too. I’m honestly just over here happy that I fit the word ‘buddy’ into a song.”

Zebrahead – I
Zebrahead will release their new EP I on November 13. It is the third EP in the series – following 2021’s III and 2023’s II.
Crashface – Life and Death in the Wasteland
Crashface will release new EP Life and Death in the Wasteland on September 13.
The duo say of the EP and latest single MANIAC (ft. Sam Matlock of Wargasm): “This one is for embracing crazy. Continuing on from the story of ‘C.H.A.I.N.S.A.W’, ‘MANIAC’ persists with venom in expressing frustration with the modern world, specifically the music industry (The Wasteland), especially in what it’s forcing artists to do in order to be “relevant”.
“Our brother-in-crime JAW has made this video what it is and knocked it out the park yet again. We wanted it to maintain an Edgar Wright-esque jagged edge while staying true to our aesthetics, and I think we’ve nailed it. And massive shout-out to the legendary Slim Jim’s in London for letting us do this super last minute! I had the song idea for a while but got pretty stuck, then showed it to Sam while we were hanging out and he was all in.
“The man is chaos but it’s exactly what this chapter needed. And it’s a cute 360 because Sam actually helped me write and record the first ever CRASHFACE song, the solo in ‘System At It’ is him playing! So it’s pretty fitting that he’s helping us kick off our third EP.”

Bicurious – Your Life is Over Now…
Bicurious will release their new album Your Life is Over Now… on October 4 through Big Scary Monsters.
It is their first release on the label, which the band said: “We’ve released all of our music independently (with the help of Narrow Door Records) up until now, but this time we felt like the songs deserved to be pushed further. After having a few conversations with various labels, we started talking to Kev and Josie at BSM, and got the right feeling straight away. We’ve tried to build our network from the start by surrounding ourselves with people we trust and who truly believe in the project – Big Scary Monsters turned out to be just that and more.
“It’s also very cool to be on a label which is home to some of our favourite artists such as Jamie Lenman, Delta Sleep, Laura Jane Grace and Alpha Male Tea Party”.
