Motion City Soundtrack will release new album The Same Old Wasted Wonderful World on September 19.

It’s the pop punk legend’s first album in 15 years!

“When we started conceptualizing the idea for this record, I was thinking about what we loved about doing this originally,” Joshua Cain explains.

“ It’s a very interesting thing to feel like we made the most important record of our career this late in the game,” Jesse Johnson explains.

“I think that if you look at a lot of our past records, it’s about ‘What’s wrong? What am I not getting right? Why do I feel fucking crazy? Why can’t I figure this out’… and I figured it out,” Justin Pierre admits. “It’s almost like I felt I didn’t have an identity [in the past] and now by working through the hard stuff, I know who I am.”

Nerves – Iarmhaireacht

Nerves will release new EP Iarmhaireacht on August 15.

The Irish punks’ vocalist Kyle Thornton said of the lyrical themes, which centre on the past and present struggles in Ireland: “Any older piece of media you find talking about mental health in the west of Ireland, emigration, the slow degradation of rural Ireland or issues with drinking culture, all have relevance to modern Ireland too.

“A recording from 1951 talking about how lack of jobs and emigration have left working class rural people feeling forgotten and abandoned has as much relevance in 2025 as it did then.”

“We wouldn’t have made this record five years ago. It’s a perfect snapshot of what we’re listening to, how our tastes have matured, and how we’ve evolved. We’re continuing to take people on a journey.”

Connor Kaminsky – Tapestry

Connor Kaminsky will release debut album Tapestry on September 5.

“Three years in the making. This album is my first ever full length release, and I gave it my everything. Friends, guests, and peers have all contributed amazing parts to many of the songs, and I feel incredibly blessed to have worked with them. I cannot wait for you all to hear Tapestry. It’s been just me listening to it for three years, and soon, it will be yours. Enjoy.”

Liam said: “For four years, I had been writing songs that in one way or another addressed the roots of me.

“Songs about my childhood, being raised by a single mother (not having a father figure). Songs that dig into my relationship with religion, and how it impacted my mental health. Songs that reveal my battles with depression and the ways I chose to cope with that, namely, alcohol and drug abuse. Songs that dig deep into my relationships – the good, the bad, and the ugly, and songs that try to paint a picture of the beautiful land I am from.”

The Beths – Straight Line was a Lie

The Beths will release new album Straight Line was a Lie on August 29 through ANTI-.

It wasn’t a simple process to get the new record, with Elizabeth Stokes struggling to put pen to paper to come up with the new material.

“I was kind of dealing with a new brain, and I feel like I write very instinctually,” she said. “It was kind of like my instincts were just a little different, they weren’t as panicky.”

Stokes and guitarist Jonathan Pearce broke down the process, with Stokes writing down reams of pages on a typewriter to create the basis, with 10 pages worth of just consciousness talking.

This formed the basis for their writing retreat in Los Angeles.

“Writing so much down forced me to look at stuff that I didn’t want to look at,” Stokes said. “In the past, in my memories. Things I normally don’t like to think about or I’m scared to revisit, I’m putting them down on paper and thinking about them, addressing them.”
