Set It Off – Self-titled

Set It Off will release their new self-titled album on November 7.
It’s the band’s first release since going fully independent.
“Once we started doing this by ourselves, the first thought I had was that I wanted to go back to that 19-year-old kid who just learnt to write music in his bedroom, writing for nobody else but himself,”says singer Cody Carson.
“It has the heaviness, the pop, the rap… this album is an amalgamation of everything we’ve tried over the years. That’s why this album needs to be self-titled. Because this is Set It Off.”
“Every previous album was so necessary for us to be able to find this sound. This is not the final destination, but it’s the road we should have been running down the whole time.”

Rage – A New World Rising

Rage will release new album A New World Rising on September 26.
Peavy Wagner said: “This applies not only to us, but to everyone: We need to get out of the destructive mindset that is currently omnipresent. A lot of people think the world is about to come to an end, everything is interpreted in a negative way, and some of it is even deliberately controlled because it’s easier to manipulate people with fear. That’s why our message is: Think independently! And don’t believe everything you’re told.
“The tracks on A New World Rising are direct and catchy, but at the same time, playful and multi-faceted without losing themselves. I think you can hear how inspired we were during the songwriting process, how much we feel at home in our typical Rage cosmos, and how much we have evolved. There may be no numbers with orchestrations this time — we’re saving that for the next album —but there’s everything that Rage stands for, plus a lot more.”

Beyond Extinction – Where They Gather

Credit: Dobbin Thomas
Beyond Extinction will release their debut album Where They Gather on September 26.
Vocalist Jasper Harmer said: “‘Where They Gather’ is anchored to a groove-heavy arsenal of riffs that carries much of the song’s weight, being supported by speed and precision in its more surgical elements. The deep tuned guitars are allowed to swing open and wide in this track and fully display how low and sickening this album gets. The misery and chaos of the city centred in the album’s story is portrayed by this track through an autopsy of heavy organs.
“Visions of a metropolis pulling the life from its inhabitants, both parasite and host. Suffocating fumes join the groans of their overpopulated streets and monolithic high-rise giants. Kevlar-clad keepers of order stamp on the throats of innocent children, having turned their guns homeward once the rest of the world had burned. Cement and asphalt are fertilised by tears, sick and soot. They crawl through the avenues of their bastardised home and plead to a tired and unwilling god to fix the falling buildings and spewing drains. When all other holes, nests and hives have been chewed into unrecognisable dirt, this is Where They Gather.”

Lonesome – In the Hope This Finds You

Credit: Jay Bass
Lonesome will release debut album In the Hope This Finds You on September 19 through Easy Life Records.
The album – which acts like a series of letters I sent, channelling grief, rage and reluctant hope – is like a poem with its titles reading together as a sentence: “Liar, save your words – can you hear me when I speak to you? You say it’s love; we are sleepless. Am I failing myself, for we are strangers again? You are nothing, just like you wrote to me.”
Tracklist:
Can You Hear Me
When I Speak To You
We Are Sleepless
And I Am Just Alone
For We Are Strangers Again
You’re Nothing
Just Like You Wrote To Me

All Ears Avow – Horrors

All Ears Avow will release debut album Horrors on October 10 through Western Audio Records.
“Things happened that we didn’t expect,” says Jake Willcock (guitar) of the experience of recording ‘Horrors’, continuing: “like Claire screaming on one of the songs, which we never thought would be in our wheelhouse.
“There’s an energy running through the entire album that we never let drop. But because it’s a bigger record than anything we’ve done before, there’s room for ebb and flow, and that’s allowed us to stretch out creatively and really put our passion on display.
“The album explores themes of societal control, brainwashing, obsession, incompetence, self-confidence, and hopelessness. We realised it was about the horrors of life – both external and internal – and how, in many ways, life feels like one big horror show we’re all battling through. Calling the record Horrors summed everything up.”
Tracklist:
Fighter
Young Horror
A Night Like This
Bird On A Wire

Idlewild – Self-titled

Credit: Euan Robertson
Idlewild will release their self-titled album on October 3 through V2 Recordings.
It is the Scottish alt-rockers’ first album in six years.
Frontman Roddy Woomble said: “We’re looking back without being nostalgic — we were thinking about all the songs we’d made and the new songs we were making.
“For the first time we were referencing ourselves, not in a nostalgic way, in a positive, creative way, realising that we had a ‘sound’ and the songs we were writing should celebrate that. After it was all recorded and done, it felt fitting to simply title it ‘Idlewild’.”
Tracklist:
