It’s time to get to know Pete Woolven, guitarist in COVE. We set Pete 10 questions about his musical likes, taste and guilty pleasures…

How would you describe your taste in music?

I think as a band our music taste is very broad, we tend to not listen to a whole lot of heavy music, and if we do it tends to be from albums we grew up listening to rather than new bands. I feel like bands we all agree on though are bands such as Balance and Composure, Circa Survive and Norma Jean. Oh and that new Hundredth album is killer.

Who do you consider to be your favourite band and why?

For sentimental value, probably Blink 182, more so for the memory’s connected to when I was listening to that band rather than the music overall, just takes me back to a time and a place of being a kid.

Who is the best live band you’ve ever seen?

Misery Signals at Brighton Concord 2 in 2008(?) was sweet.

What is the one song that you could listen to forever?

Aphex Twin – Avril 14th

What album, if any, was a turning point in your ‘musical life’ and why?

There wasn’t so much an album in particular, it was more the era of limewire (oops). I’d download loads of Metallica, nothing specific from one album, but an amalgamation of the best songs from several albums, and that really got me into wanting to play and listen to heavy music.

In 3 words, what makes a good album or song?

Feel, vibe, setting

A festival or a gig? Why?

The vibe of a festival is great and a new place to discover bands, but I think overall there is nothing better than going to a show with a dedicated fan base and it going off.

Who would be your 3 dream festival headliners?

Norma Jean, Thrice, Bon Iver

Who are the best new band you’ve discovered lately that everyone should know about?

Sad Cops

What band or artist is your secret, or not so secret, guilty pleasure?

Madonna between 1986 and 1989
