It’s time to get to know Vicky Shaw, reviewer and interviewer at Alt Corner! We set Vicky 10 questions about their musical likes, their guilty pleasures and what music means to them.

1 – How would you describe your taste in music?

The music I listen to ranges from bubblegum pop to anything metal! I listen to most music genres, growing up listening to pop punk such as Green Day, and rock bands such as My Chemical Romance have all had massive influences on who I am today. I don’t dislike any genre, since they’re all great in each way, as well as being massively influencing and creative.

2 – Who do you consider to be your favourite band and why?

Overall my favourite bands would have to be between electro duo ‘Empire Of The Sun’ and british band ‘Mallory Knox’. Both of these bands are so different to each other, and I love to listen to different types of music however I’m feeling. I only found EOTS around 2 years ago after they released their second album, which I totally fell in love with, and I have continued to support the band to this day. Another band is Mallory Knox. I started listening to their music around 2014, and after meeting the band, it was crazy to see how passionate they all are about what they’re doing, which made me fall in love with the music even more.

3 – Who is the best live band you’ve ever seen?

Out of all the bands I have seen, it would probably be Frnkiero and the Cellebration back in April 2015, but Walk The Moon and PVRIS come a close second and third.

4 – What is the one song that you could listen to forever?

Most probably ‘Oh No’ by Bring Me The Horizon off of their latest album ‘That’s the spirit’

5 – What album, if any, was a turning point in your ‘musical life’ and why?

Definitely ‘Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge’ by My Chemical Romance. It was the first album I had ever bought myself, and it was the album that introduced myself into the bands I still listen to today.

6 – In 3 words, what makes a good album or song?

Catchy, Passion, Dedication

7 – A festival or a gig? Why?

Probably a festival. Since I would be paying such a decent amount of money to see around 10/15 bands play per day. plus the atmosphere is amazing  and unforgettable.

8 – Who would be your 3 dream festival headliners?

Thirty Seconds To Mars

Melanie Martinez

Neck Deep

9 – Who are the best new band you’ve discovered lately that everyone should know about?

CREEPER!

10 – What band or artist is your secret, or not so secret, guilty pleasure?

Halsey for sure. Badlands on vinyl sounds pretty damn sick.
