It’s time to get to know French metallers Insolvency! We asked guitarist Bruno Blackstard 10 questions about his musical likes, tastes and guilty pleasures!

How would you describe your taste in music?

I just like all kinds of intense and melodic music: Heavy Metal, Metalcore, Deathcore, Black Metal but also Punk Rock, Electro.. Then I like to have a hear on new fresh sound in any styles!

Who do you consider to be your favourite band and why?

I love a lot of bands but I can’t deny Children Of Bodom have been my favourite since I was 16 years old. Especially because of Alexi Laiho who is for me one of the best musicians playing today. He manages to link so well Virtuosity / Power / Melody with the right amount of each. I’ve been amazed and so proud to be part of 100guitarsfromhel festival performer alongside Alexi Laiho and have some time to discuss with him and some of COB musicians!

Who is the best live band you’ve ever seen?

Very hard choice, I’ve been to several gigs these years and also to Summer Breeze festival last summer, and I saw so many great bands. I think Architects was one of the best I’ve seen recently. Friendly feeling between Sam and the crowd, crazy stage light system synchronized to the music, powerful sound and catchy atmosphere.

What is the one song that you could listen to forever?

Children Of BodomEvery time I Die”.

What album, if any, was a turning point in your ‘musical life’ and why?

I prefer to answer in term of “music style” instead of album. I’ve been stuck for around 10 years with established heavy Metal / Symphonic metal bands (Children of Bodom, Wintersun, Arch Enemy, Nightwish…), and the guys in Insolvency made me discover other cool bands like Bring Me The Horizon, While She Sleeps, Architects, and it just helped me to not only consider music as a technical player but as a songwriter.

In 3 words, what makes a good album or song?

Creative, Heavy, Groovy

A festival or a gig? Why?

Summer Breeze in Germany: Great variety of bands style, friendly people, great camping services (showers and toilets), great food choices and very affordable prices for all these amount of great band I’ve seen their last summer.

Who would be your dream 3 festival headliners?

Too hard question because it really depends on my mood, I love so many bands! I’m gonna go with: Architects, While She Sleeps, BMTH

Who are the best new band you’ve discovered lately that everyone should know about?

I don’t know if they are considered as “new band” but they are certainly getting bigger: Conquer Divide. Great metalcore girl band from USA, with very creative riffs, great vocals and great vibes from their music!

What band or artist is your secret, or not so secret, guilty pleasure?

Ok I must admit I’ve been listening to some Rihanna and I’ve worked (outside of Insolvency’s things) on a homemade cover of one of her songs, “This Is What You Came For” she recorded with Calvin Harris.
