It’s time to get to know Josh and Ben of InVisions. We set them both 10 questions about their musical likes, tastes and guilty pleasures…

How would you describe your taste in music?

Josh: Diverse. I love Metal obviously, but I would say I equally love country music. Then there’s bands such as Die Antwoord…so yeah, my music taste is all over the place.
Ben: Random. I have such a random taste in music. I can pretty much listen to anything. Acoustic music being a firm favourite but when I’m driving I like to listen to more house and dubstep.

Who do you consider to be your favourite band and why?

Josh: I would consider either Slipknot or Blink 182 as an all-time favourite of mine. Generic, I know, but bands like that shaped me as a child into the person I am today with music. Both are full of raw emotion in completely different ways and I love that!
Ben: I don’t actually have a favourite. It all depends in what kinda mood I’m in as to what style I’ll be listening to. At the moment I’m jamming Charlie Puth – ‘Attention‘ and before that it was Chelsea Grin’s latest album. When Stormzy released his album I had that on repeat. If I dig it, I’ll listen to it.

Who is the best live band you’ve ever seen?

Josh: Iron Maiden. Hands down. They are absolutely perfect, musically flawless and have an insanely visually stimulating show!
Ben: Parkway Drive have to be up there. I saw them in Manchester a few years back and they slayed! But Architects have everything, they sound exactly like their records. When you’re watching them you hear and believe every lyric. Just the energy they produce when playing their songs is so inspirational.

What is the one song that you could listen to forever?

Josh: Avenged Sevenfold – ‘Dear God’. Really hits home with me and will never get old! It’s been my alarm on my iPad for about 3 years now and STILL starts my day off great!
Ben: Nickelback– ‘If Today Was Your Last Day‘. I don’t know what it is but every time I listen to that song I want to hear it over and over again. The lyrics hold such a strong meaning and musically, it’s so moreish. I never get bored of listening to it.

What album, if any, was a turning point in your ‘musical life’ and why?

Josh: Suicide SeasonBring Me The Horizon. This album was the point where I decided I HAVE to do this at that level. Everything in this album was flawless and so heavy and powerful. It definitely inspired me to want to reach that ‘next level’ with my own music.
Ben: It’s not listening to a band’s music that made me want to be in a band. It’s seeing bands that made me want to do it. The first metal band I listened to was Avenged Sevenfold. I went to see them in Birmingham and I was like “fuckkkk I need to do this”. Since then I’ve always tried to better myself in music/singing and right now this is the best and most confident position I’ve been in.

In 3 words, what makes a good album or song?

Josh: Breakdowns, Solos, Passion
Ben: Meaning, catchiness and quality.

A festival or a gig? Why?

Josh: Festival for sure. I have so many great memories and probably even more I won’t remember because of how much alcohol is slayed! You’re fucked up with your best friends, seeing loads of amazing bands all in one day and hopefully in the Sun. How can you beat that!?
Ben: I like them both for different reasons. At festivals you hang out with a bunch of friends, getting twisted, listening to the music you enjoy most and making some sick memories. But going to gigs is just as fun. The only difference is a gig is just one night and you’re not sleeping in a bin. So I like them both just as much.

Who would be your 3 dream festival headliners?

Josh: Blink 182, Funeral for a Friend and The Darkness. CAN YOU IMAGINE!
Ben: Well the obvious answer is us, everyone who’s in a band dreams of headlining a festival. But for me I’d want Avenged Sevenfold, Nickelback and Blackstone Cherry.

Who are the best new band you’ve discovered lately that everyone should know about?

Josh: Check out a band called Trophy Eyes, I discovered these guys a couple of months before Slam Dunk festival 2017 on Spotify and loved them instantly! I jammed their 2016 album ‘Chemical Miracle‘ and every track is an anthem!
Ben: Polaris without doubt. They absolutely kill it. They’re from Australia but they’re hitting up the UK and Europe real soon.

What band or artist is your secret, or not so secret, guilty pleasure?

Josh: I don’t really have any guilty pleasures when it comes to music. I like what I like and I think there’s too much of a stigma surrounding people’s music tastes in this day and age. I will say this, if you love it and it makes you happy, keep jammin’ it.
Ben: I don’t really have a guilty pleasure as I’m down to listen to anything. Whether it’s pop, rock, grime, metal. I don’t care man, if I dig it then I’ll listen to it.
