Ever wondered what drummer Joey Jordison got up to after leaving Slipknot? Well he’s been continuing in music with VIMIC and has now teamed up with former Dragonforce virtuoso bassist Frédéric Leclercq to create supergroup Sinsaenum!
Since 1998, Fred had been planning a project that was more death metal than the power metal of Dragonforce, he secured the services of Stéphane Buriez of French icons Loudblast but as he explains below, it wasn’t until an unexpected message that the project started to take shape;
“Joey Jordison sent me an SMS to ask what I was up to, so I told him about those death metal songs.”
After hearing the demos, he wanted to know whom Frédéric had recruited behind the kit. As there was nobody yet, he eagerly suggested adding his own ferocious style. Joey also had the idea for the name Sinsaenum, a fitting combination of the words “sin” and “insane”. Adding vocals are Mayhem‘s Attila Csihar and DÅÅTH and CHIMAIRA‘s Sean Zatorsky. The lineup is completed by Heimoth of French extreme metallers Seth.
The supergroup’s debut album Echoes of the Tortured is set for release via EarMUSIC on July 29th and you can get a taste of the release with the group’s debut track ‘Army of Chaos’ below:
